Top 10 Career Resource Picks for Moms - Updated 2022

Your Go-to List through the Seasons: Return-to-Work, Career Change & Board Leadership

May is the month of the mother.

If you don’t know it yet, motherhood is an all-out, hands-on, messy course in leadership. From the stork’s arrival to beyond the empty nest, moms enroll in the most-character building (and trying) boot camp there is: Raising children.

91% agree. According to Bright Horizons’ recent Modern Family Index, Moms bring a unique (and much needed) combination of skills to the workplace, compared to working fathers and employees without kids, like:

  • A Listening ear

  • Diplomacy

  • Calm in crisis

  • Team-orientation

89% of the participants in Kelton Research’s study maintain that working moms bring out the best in their employees. So when we saw 4.2 million women exit paid work in droves due to the impact of COVID-19, one of the greatest workforce superpowers went missing – MOMS!

It isn’t just the short-term effects of the “she-session” that are worrisome, but the long-term financial and work-related relational costs that remain at the forefront.

BUT there is hope! Maternal support, career resources and flexible work arrangements are all on the rise. LinkedIn is part of the growing movement to normalize (and bolster) career breaks across the human experience, with or without children as the cause.
